* Don't you dare dig for that "cool" or "intellectual" book in your closet! I know you were thinking about it! Just pick up whatever is closest.

I am sitting on a blanket which covers two things. Both seem to be equally under me, so you get two.

1: Unexpectedly, we find a Kantian argument made on behalf of social structures, and we slip back into that old use of notion as framework: it is within the frameworks of collective thoughts that we find the means of evoking the series and connection of objects. It remains to be explained how the sentiment of unity of self derives from this collective thought. It occurs through the intermediary of the consciousness we have at every minute of belonging at the same time to different milieus; but this consciousness exits only in the present. The only concession that the author makes is providing every consciousness with the power to place itself within the viewpoint of the group and, in addition, to move from one group to another.

2: All of him was shaking, shaking badly. He realized that he wasn't thirsty but he didn't put down the plastic cup, and he tried not to think about the things that weren't left to think about. How much distance was there in the world, how much space stretched between concrete riverbanks and the place where the water met sky? The land between the rivers, the island and its heights, the depths of its flooded and unflooded tunnels?

That...pretty much sums up my life, right there. Reading that first thing and then reading the second to get my brain in real-person mode again. Once again, anyone who ever says "you're so lucky that you don't have to do real work!" can die in a gruesome fire. Fuck you, I'm unemployed and I have to read that first-section shit every day if I ever want to get a job. Sorry I'm so bitter about that, but it's a huge thing for me. I've actually lost friendships over it.

Oh, and this other thing:

Ask me anything you want and I'll answer honestly.

You've got anon, so go ahead and use it. I won't screen comments since that kills half the fun.

Okay, this question has been on my mind for a while: I really like that picture in your icon and it's really pretty. What's it from?

I would have asked sooner, but it sounds so lame. :x

Heeee. I love that icon and I felt a personal connection with it, but I just COULD NOT remember who made it. So, it's credited as "if you made this, please tell me."

Other than that, it's River from Firefly, and it seems to be nice photoshop work, since there's not a scene like that in the show. The maker must have blacked out whatever was behind her (you can still see a bit under her arm), and then added the light in the corner and flecks of stars or whatever.

tl;dr, If you know anything about River, she's kind of a very particular kind of nutjob, so the idea of coming out of a dark place toward light would probably have a lot of meaning for her like everything else. And it's how I feel/would like to feel sometimes.

Also, I'm one of those people who just can't figure out how to properly use icons (like, what's right for what setting or level of humor, etc), so most of the time I just a neutral one as kind of a signature, since in a way, I feel like it represents me?
