CHAT DEMANDS IMPROMPTU IC PARTY FOR THE WIN AND THE LULZ

LET'S GO!  JOIN IN!

At the end of the day, your character is led back to their room in the usual manner.  The nurse's hand reaches for the doorknob and the door swings open, then--

Poof!

Your character appears in a large ballroom with an exquisitely tiled floor and a large stone fountain in the center.  The centerpiece of the fountain, shaped like a large fish, continually emits a spray of glitter from its open mouth.  Several tables covered with crisp white tablecloths are positioned near the walls, and a jar of sharpie brand glitter-paint markers serves as a colorful centerpiece for each.

Against the far wall is a long, rectangular table, with two bowls of red punch.  A sign written in fancy calligraphy rests against each: Yes, and No.  In addition to the punch, there are bottles of every liquor imaginable, as well as several fine wines and packs of cigarettes (though partygoers will have to fight for a single lighter).

The bathroom to one side bears a creepy resemblance to the bathroom in a normal house, complete with a medicine cabinet worthy of a lonely 50's housewife.

On the other side are a series of doors leading to rooms.

CURRENT SUB-ROOMS:

Bathroom
Office
Room of Mystical Legal Aging
Vegas Hotel
Broom Closet
Walk-in Freezer

If your character goes into a room, please put that room in the subject line.  Rooms are lockable.  If you want a room that isn't listed, tell me and I'll give it to you.  XD

Since this is not an actual [livejournal.com profile] damned event and is not srs bzns, feel free to join in with a character that from another rp if you're a potential player.  If this is the case, instead of entering through a door in the institute, your player would enter through a random door in the RP from whence they came.  XD  EDIT:  Party is now also for trying out potential characters.

The YES punch smells and tastes alcoholic, and has the same effect as a normal spiked drink.  The NO punch smells and tastes like normal non-alcoholic party punch.  IF YOUR CHARACTER DRINKS THE NO PUNCH, IM ME AT QUANTIFYTHIS AND I WILL TELL YOU ITS EFFECT.

THE FIRST RULE OF THE PARTY IS DON'T BE LAME.  THE SECOND RULE OF THE PARTY IS SRSLY, DON'T BE LAME.

FORMER MUSIC
FORMER MUSIC
CURRENT MUSIC
(music will be updated when Allie is not lazy and people give requests)

SMALL PRINT:  Powers and weapons are go as long as whoever you're using them on is cool with it.  Continuity from previous damned parties is intact if you want it to be, or not intact if you don't want it to be.  Clothing is whatever your character wore in canon, whatever they should have worn in canon, whatever they wore in their rp game, or whatever isn't in the dryer.  This impromptu chat party will last until everyone gets bored.

Ritsuka nodded, focused now on his camera and making sure it worked properly. He always lost himself when he was taking memories like this, caught up in the camera and what was on the screen, making sure the memory would be exactly what he wanted it to be. Sometimes, if a shot was off even a little bit, the entire photograph could change and that meant the memory would change with it. "I don't really know how it all works, but yeah, I can."

There. Alfons waved, spoke a little and the camera had caught it all. He pushed the button again and the light stopped blinking. Now to switch to play mode and... "Here we go. Look." He turned the camera around so Alfons could see it and hit play. After a momentary delay, Alfons' movie began to play with sound. "It's amazing, isn't it? If I had a computer, I could download this and give it to you on a CD or something...." Not that CDs were guaranteed to work everywhere... But photos would! "Or I can print out any memories we make today so we can both keep them. I wonder if there's a computer here somewhere..."

It... it was playing. A movie. With sound. And color. And... and... Alfons's eyes went wide, flabbergasted to hear his voice coming out of the camera, everything like how it had been just a few moments before. "It's... I don't know what to say to that. It's amazing." That was really all he could think of to say. He didn't bring up that he had no idea what a CD was, or that he had no comprehension of how the photos could be printed out within the same day. He was instead trying to keep up with the incredible thing that he'd just seen, something patently impossible in his own world now so common as to be bought by a boy as young as Ritsuka. Not that he wanted to deny Ritsuka anything nice, but even the greatest minds in his world couldn't make something like this!

So he latched on to the first thing that would give him some breathing space to think about it, and offered, "I saw some doors over in the far end of the room-" past the glittering fountain of doom that he was never thinking about ever- "so perhaps there's something in there that might have a computer?" Whatever a computer was.

"There's been a lot of advances since they figured out how to do microchips. In order to save space and improve mobility, manufactured goods on a whole have been shrinking in size. That way a person can just put the necessary items in their pockets or bags and take them anywhere." Which reminded him of something else he should have checked for. Ritsuka reached into his pockets again, but his hands came up empty for his cellphone. He would have liked to have that to show Alfons, too. If a camera blew his mind, then seeing a camera in a phone would floor him! And his wasn't even that complicated. It was too bad, but he'd have to put it out of his mind for now.

Ritsuka switched the camera mode back to photography and looked where Alfons was pointing. That made the most sense out of anything. If a computer was going to be anywhere, it would be in an office or someone's room and those doors appeared to lead to such places. Maybe. Who knew what they really hid. He could have sworn there had been fewer doors earlier, but maybe that was just his memory. Aiming the camera at the fountain spewing glitter, Ritsuka felt compelled to take a photo just because he could. He lowered the camera again and then grabbed Alfons' hand, starting off toward the doors. "Then let's go! There's not much else to do in here anyway."

It was such a simple thing, to be led by the hand, yet Alfons felt himself blushing a little and smiling a little more openly and honestly than before. It was nice, just being held like that, and Alfons being who he was, he found himself liking the simple acceptance. Not that the staid Germans ever really admitted that out loud, but still. He was led to the doors, and meanwhile, he got to look over Ritsuka's shoulder to see how the camera looked while taking pictures.

...he kinda wished he hadn't. "You're recording even the bad memories, Ritsuka?" That much glitter was not something to be shown to the innocent, in Alfons's humble opinion.

All the rest of the technobabble was remembered, but not understood at all. What were those microchips, exactly? He'd heard of them before, but never actually seen any of them. So he was having difficulties imagining how the things worked or what kind of things went on behind that exterior. But he wanted to know. And he was honored beyond words that Ritsuka would be willing to show him all of those many things.

"If you don't record the good and the bad, you'll get a lopsided view of life." Ritsuka said, knocking on one door before testing the handle. Locked. Why have rooms if they were going to be locked? Sighing, Ritsuka put the camera into his pocket and started over to the next one. "You can't just erase the bad things that happened."

Even if it meant living in pain. He wasn't an optimistic person. He wasn't going to say that bad things happened for a reason, or that they were there to make you stronger. Bad things just were. They happened, and people could either cope with them or end up falling to them. His mind was slipping back someplace he didn't want to go.

"Let's try this one!" he said, perking his voice back up. He tested the doorknob and smiled when it turned. "Great! Let's check in here."

He opened the door and found a simple enough room, what looked like an office with a desk, chairs, the prerequisite stupid office plant and... "Awesome! A computer!"

"I know, you can't erase what happened in the past... But you can always move forward. Always." He was, after all, a proud German who still chafed at the burden of unfair treaties and international scorn. The bad happened... but that made him look to the good things in life. To his friends, to the future, to everything that could be obtained.

So then, Alfons walked into the room, and shuddered. Suddenly his clothes felt a little too tight, the buttons strained against his torso, and he felt oddly... itchy. Like he'd grown a little in just a few moments. It was odd, but surely it was just his imagination. Who could grow like that? The answer was himself, of course, but the change wasn't exactly stunning. Meanwhile, he stepped to the side and glanced around. "...that thing on the desk is the computer?"

For a moment, Ritsuka had almost forgotten who he'd been speaking to. Alfons knew more than anyone how a person had to keep moving forward. His country was on the verge of a devastating war - another reason why Ritsuka wanted him out of there. It was maybe cruel of him, but keeping his friend alive was what mattered. Staying back there wasn't going to help him any.

Ritsuka looked down at the camera to pull the memory card out and followed after Alfons, still fiddling with the memory hatch. "Mm, yeah, it--" Something felt off. His balance? The distance from the camera to the floor? "Wha--" Ritsuka looked up and stopped short, looking over at Alfons as he realized he had a completely different point of view now and that Alfons was different, too. It took a minute for things to compute, but once they did, Ritsuka dropped his camera and pointed at Alfons, stammering wildly. "Holy crap, you shrunk!"

Alfons stopped when he turned to look at Ritsuka, and for the life of him, he couldn't speak. He just stared, his blue eyes wide in shock, his jaw working uselessly as he tried to understand what was going on. Ritsuka was... was old! Well, older! And he was kinda cute, too; mature and tall, a little bit taller than Alfons, and he really just looked... nice.

Alfons was a faint shade of pink, and for the moment, he was just speechless. It was impossible to explain, rationally, what had just happened. Utterly and totally impossible. It was suitable, somehow, but still impossible.

How the hell could a room cause Alfons to shrink? What the hell was wrong with this place? Ritsuka reached down and picked up his camera, fumbling with it for a second before realizing something else was horribly, horribly awry. His camera was a lot smaller than he remembered and he was a lot further away from the ground. Maybe he had...?

Holding his hands out, he looked down at them and realized they were a lot longer than he remembered. That went for his legs and well, everything. "...HOLY CRAP."

His mother would beat him for such language, but what else was he supposed to say?! He was old! Alfons was shorter than him! This wasn't supposed to happen! He quickly turned and looked behind him - his tail was still there - and then grabbed the top of his head - his ears were still in place. Well, that was a relief. Confused, but also happy to know that he actually did grow eventually, he looked at Alfons sheepishly and said, "....so, uh...what just happened?"

"I... think you're older..." Alfons nearly gasped it out, trying desperately to find a logical, reasonable answer for what he'd just seen. He was failing, horribly, but he was still trying his best to try to keep from freaking out. Or staring too badly. But of course, that was just as impossible as finding a rational answer.

...definitely older. And cuter. Alfons cleared his throat, and offered weakly, "Or at least taller, that's... about as far as I can say..."

From: [identity profile] forgot-it-all.livejournal.com
"How?" He still couldn't see what was going on, but, well, he knew how to take care of that. Turning the camera on, he held it out at arm's length and snapped it once. Confusion was all but written in ink on his face as he pulled up his photo. When people said he looked like Seimei, they weren't lying. He looked like Seimei would have at this age, maybe a little leaner in the face. This was so weird.

"....so, uh...older. That's..." He looked at the camera again. "...Weird. Okay, so we come in here and we're older. At least there's a computer. Might as well commemorate it, right?" It wasn't like Ritsuka felt any older. He just looked it. And if he just pretended it was some weird hallucination induced by the room itself, maybe he could keep from thinking about it too much. Holding the camera up, he tried his best to smile reassuringly at his friend. "Want to take a couple?"

From: [identity profile] clockworkblond.livejournal.com
"I don't know how," Alfons answered, being completely honest with that. How on earth could either of them have grown so much, let alone both of them? It was something to do with the room, obviously, but what? Baffling, the entire thing! And if it was one thing that Alfons didn't like, it was not having the answers to questions being posed to him.

At least he wasn't going insane, right? He nodded a little bit, just a little bit sheepishly as he did so. Memory-making was fun, and he'd promised to do it, so why not? "Yeah, we can take some here. And maybe some others outside, if that'll make us our right sizes?" He hoped so... he liked being older, and he liked Ritsuka being older as well, but that wasn't what they were really like. And Alfons wanted to be remembered as he was.

"This place is weird..." He adjusted the zoom on the camera and sighed, shaking his head. Whatever answers anyone came up with, he doubted it would hold up in the face of science anyway. Most things here seemed to defy science - like the glitter fountain. He still didn't know how that worked. "And yeah, outside is good, too. I just wanted to make sure there was a computer in here. Usually where there's a computer there's a printer."

And with a printer, he could give Alfons the photographs to take with him. Something told Ritsuka that when he woke up in the Institute the next day, he'd be back on his own and missing his friend even worse. "But just in case this only works once, right?" He went over to the desk and set the camera down, putting the timer function on. "The light's going to flash, when it goes steady, the camera will take a picture on its own. I've got it set so it'll see us. Ready?"

He waited a moment to be sure that Alfons would be ready after that somewhat haphazard explanation and then pushed the button, running back over to him. It felt weird to be tall and he instinctively hunched forward a bit, throwing up a peace sign like always.

"That kind of goes without saying," Alfons agreed with a long-suffering sigh. He'd tried to think logically and rationally through everything that had gone on with the Institute, but it never had worked too well. Here especially, with the Thing He Wasn't Thinking About and all the other stuff, it seemed like logic had thrown itself right off the Alps. So then, he would just have to deal with things as they came up, right? Right.

Alfons watched carefully as Ritsuka went through all of the motions he had to to set up some kind of effect, curious as always to learn how things like that worked. The explanation was a bit incomplete, but Alfons was sure he got the gist of it at the very least; the light would flash, then take a picture when it went steady. Okay, he could get that. He stood up straight and tall, almost stiffly, the kind of pose that had to be taken back in the older days when photographs took ages to properly create. Even if he knew it'd be done in literally a flash, it was hard to forget how things had been.

...and once they were free, he was going to have to ask about that weird gesture Ritsuka had made.
