allieCHAT DEMANDS IMPROMPTU IC PARTY FOR THE WIN AND THE LULZ
LET'S GO! JOIN IN!
At the end of the day, your character is led back to their room in the usual manner. The nurse's hand reaches for the doorknob and the door swings open, then--
Poof!
Your character appears in a large ballroom with an exquisitely tiled floor and a large stone fountain in the center. The centerpiece of the fountain, shaped like a large fish, continually emits a spray of glitter from its open mouth. Several tables covered with crisp white tablecloths are positioned near the walls, and a jar of sharpie brand glitter-paint markers serves as a colorful centerpiece for each.
Against the far wall is a long, rectangular table, with two bowls of red punch. A sign written in fancy calligraphy rests against each: Yes, and No. In addition to the punch, there are bottles of every liquor imaginable, as well as several fine wines and packs of cigarettes (though partygoers will have to fight for a single lighter).
The bathroom to one side bears a creepy resemblance to the bathroom in a normal house, complete with a medicine cabinet worthy of a lonely 50's housewife.
On the other side are a series of doors leading to rooms.

Date: 2008-08-30 04:04 am (UTC)Matsuda glanced around cautiously when he arrived in the ballroom, covering his head in case anything decided it wanted to take a bite out of him. Things didn't just go Poof. Or they didn't usually, maybe they really did. Ever since that whole mental institution thing, he had no idea what was going on anymore. Never mind the fact that it hadn't even been a full day since he'd arrived.
It was kind of nice, though, what with the glitter fountain and the punch and...oh wow! Someone had been nice enough to bring in alcohol! And he was in normal clothes again. He really kinda missed his tie and blazer. Well, even if he'd gotten here from his room, and it was something that the doctors and nurses had come up with, it couldn't hurt to try out the alcohol. He wandered over, looking at the different bottles available.

Oh, thank God, he thought, upon realizing he was in his usual suit. That...incident, while he had no idea how it had come about, was not one he planned on repeating, ever.
He looked up from his shoes and took note of the unusual centerpiece in the center of the table. A fish. Shooting glitter from its mouth. Someone has an unusual sense of humor. But why does that seem familiar? I don't know anyone who's ever owned a glitter fountain.
"...this can't be as bad as the last time I was in this situation," he muttered, walking across the room to get a drink.

Date: 2008-08-30 04:24 am (UTC)He blinked at the spot where the doorknob should have been, instead finding himself looking at empty air. His eyes re-focused on something just beyond it -- a . . . fish-shaped fountain? Spewing glitter?
Wow. Maya would really love that, he thought in the first distracted, amazed moment, a second later shaking his head hard and snapping himself out of it. He took another step into the room, scanning it cautiously. The whole room was set up like some sort of tacky, surreal prom, and he reached down to pinch his forearm before Dahlia could come waltzing in in a swan-shaped dress or whatever other weird thing his subconscious was formulating could materialize.
His fingers met not bare skin, but thick fabric, and he looked down quickly to find himself dressed in his clothes -- his clothes -- and could not recall having ever been more grateful to see the sleeve of his familiar, well-weathered blue suit.
Possibilities: 1) Home, and I just don't recognize it, he listed, continuing to walk into the room, looking about and frowning at the incongruity of the rooms that split off from the main ballroom. 2) Dreaming. 3) Hallucinating, and I'm actually tottering through the Sun Room right now. He sighed, walking toward the back wall. It's looking like two or three. Oh well, it least it looks like there's punch, and . . . Edgeworth? He approached cautiously, frowning, suspecting that at any second the broad-shouldered form of the prosecutor would wheel on him and begin shrieking at him with his grandmother's face, or something like that. He didn't trust himself to have normal dreams (hallucinations, whatever), especially not after today.

After spending a week as a bird and on fire, he'd woken up humanoid shaped and pissed off. Fire. Honestly. As if being stolen to a retarded rainbow world and fused with a stupid mythological bird wasn't bad enough, the owls had set him on fire. Bastards were going to...well, burn. Or something.
Of course, going through his door and finding himself in a room he'd never seen before wasn't completely unexpected since it had happened to him before, but one thing did catch his attention almost immediately.
There was a fountain.
With a FISH.
"OH HELL NO." The redhead turned and tried to flee, finding that the door no longer opened. "OH GOD. SOMEONE LET ME OUT OF HERE."

He had gone to fetch some linens from the linen cupboard, and the door had promptly swung shut behind him. Thinking that it was most likely Finny or Meilin being... Finny and Meilin again, he opened the door for some light.
This was most definitely not the Phantomhive Manor. Some of these people he'd never even seen before.
Except the stupid one trying to get out. This day was getting stranger and stranger.
Calmly, Sebastian strode across the room to the flailing Grell. "And just what exactly is going on here?" He asked, his voice quiet in that deadly sort of tone.

But fortunately, as he discovered as he made a quick check, he was lacking the bunny ears and rest of the bizarre costume from before, and was instead back in his normal clothing.
It could have been worse, he supposed. But still? Very strange. And the guardian didn't like it.
Yue moved immediately to one of the walls, off to the side and out of the way of the other people. He folded his arms across his chest and frowned across the room, wondering where he was, why, and why anyone would make a glitter fountain.

At least this time he'd gotten decent clothing.
He made his way to the drink table and searched for the bowl of M&Ms he'd claimed a few days prior, but amid the booze and cigarettes, there was no solid food to be had. Irritating, but at least he wouldn't have to put up with Matt's whining. After giving the room another once-over he scanned the labels of the drink bottles until his eyes settled on a cream-colored container.

Mello grabbed the it and unscrewed the cap, then took a gulp from the open bottle (like fuck he was sharing with anyone). He leaned against the drink table and smirked, watching glitter pile in the granite and brass basin of the fountain.

The shinigami fumbled for a cup and poured himself some punch from the bowl labeled "NO," because that clearly meant it was the non-alcoholic one, then turned away again carefully so as to not spill anything. There were more and more people arriving now, and he looked around with eyes wide as he absently took a drink of punch.

He glanced around, first at the decoration. "Well, it would make sense that, uh, I would walk into a bunch of pointless decorations..." he paused a moment while looking around, "at a party. Not just the unfamiliar location Rikku found herself in, that is, but the fact that she was suddenly back in daytime clothing and lacking in the particular valuables she had just obtained. Unexpected, and disappointing, and potentially dangerous if she didn't manage to find them again before she met up with her current employer.
But, well, she wasn't going to let a little danger stop her from at least having a good look around.
All the glitter and sparkles were rather odd, even if she rather approved. And there seemed to be an entire table of alcoholic beverages without a minder to ask pointed questions about her age. Delightful.
There was a grouchy-looking blond kid by said table when she arrived, which was at least something relatively familiar - there were plenty of those back in her home neighborhood. Rikku lightly tapped him on the shoulder and treated him to one of her brightest grins. "'scuse me, but, do you know where we are?"

Senses alert but cautious as well, Yahiko turned to take in the rest of his surroundings. Bursts of metal flecks filled the air in the center of the room, bright like fireworks and just as colorful, and his eyes widened further when he saw the sculpture beneath it. A gleaming metal fish, well-crafted and obviously expensive. After a few seconds of awe, the young swordsman regained the composure to close his mouth and scan the rest of the room in search of something or someone familiar. This had to be a palace. Someone had spent way too much money here. But how had he gotten to a palace from his own doorway, much less a palace with locked doors?

Someone had apparently caught a huge ass fish, dipped it in metal, and shoved a canon down it's throat. Or so it looked to Sano. Whatever the hell it was, it definitely showed that someone had bad taste. Sano tried not to stare at it too long, except it was kind of hard to look away. Like a carriage wreck or something.
When he did look away though, Sanosuke found something much more interesting to stare at. A familiar back, except not, cause this guy was definitely taller. But the resemblence even from this angle was damn uncanny, and without thinking about it, Sanosuke shouted over to the kid in question. "Hey! Is that you Yahiko?!"

Ritsuka opened his door and found himself in a room that reminded him eerily of the earlier parties. The one where men in miniskirts had been dancing and -oh God, bad memories. Shaking his head, Ritsuka felt something strange at the top of his head and reached up. HIS EARS. He spun around and found to his delight that his tail was back, too! He was wearing jeans and a t-shirt with a weird print on it like always! He was back to normal!
Happy to see himself back to how he remembered, he looked around for someone else from home and stopped dead when he recognized someone else entirely. Blond hair in that cut, the way he stood, the sight of him from behind. "Alfons!!" Ritsuka was at him like a shot, not caring to see what he was staring at. All he knew was he wanted to see his friend again.

Date: 2008-08-31 07:57 am (UTC)First off, Shinichi hadn't expected to find a decadent ballroom inside what was supposed to be a murder victim's apartment. Especially not one that spewed glitter every which way.
Secondly, he was almost 100% sure that he had, in fact, been Conan when he'd opened the door. Suddenly, he was a lot taller, which only added to the confusion. Not that he minded, of course, but the shift in equilibrium was more than a little disconcerting.
Third...was that a catboy over there? All right, that settled it. Obviously, the murderer he'd been chasing had come up behind him and knocked out the poor, defenseless seven year old, and he was stuck in some sort of blunt object-induced hallucination. It was the only logical conclusion. Any minute now, Hattori would realize that he was taking too long and come upstairs to look for him.
Speaking of Hattori...
It probably stood to reason that the Great Detective of the West would be in his subconscious. Along with the catboys and ornate fish sculptures.

Namely glass near his right eye, the familiar swish of cloth, the feel of a hat... Kid's monocle, Kid's suit and cape and hat... All his effects and tricks, hidden away in their proper places once again. The door he'd come in through was missing (apparently), but the missing door mattered far less than what he'd just gained.
Kid grinned. He may not have expected any of this, but it was a welcome surprise.

And the ceiling of the ballroom was fortunately high and the room wide enough to accommodate his wingspan.
The guardian came to a neat landing not far from Fai, then drifted closer to the table with his feet still not quite touching the floor and wings partially spread. "That might not be advisable on an empty stomach," he noted, voice neutral, as he openly studied the magician. It was pleasant to finally see and sense what he should be able to, and thus satisfy at least some of his curiosity.

Not that there seemed to be any immediate danger; oddly enough, none of the others in the room seemed even to have made particular note of her arrival. And there was a decidedly odd assortment of characters present - although the decor, including a stone fountain spraying not water, but something that sparkled, was odder by far.
Ayu forced herself to relax a little, at least outwardly, assuming a mildly puzzled smile as she moved forward away from the wall and into the room proper. The contents of the room and the people present were duly noted as she glanced around herself, listening and watching and wondering; for the moment she saw nothing and no one she recognized, but hopefully something would make sense soon.

The only problem was that when he'd gone through the door into the dojo, the dojo hadn't been there. Instead, he found himself in a huge room full of people in weird clothes. And a fountain shaped like a fish that spewed sparkles.

The little page walked around a little, taking in the strange room and its even stranger occupants, before he stopped dead. No. That was impossible. She was dead--he'd been one of the first people to see her tortured, mutilated body after it had been dumped.

This was the last straw! Her partner could be a lazy ass with no motivation, but he would have to do it without her from now on. Why on Earth would he turn down that promotion that had been offered, knowing perfectly well that it would likely have meant one for her, too? She had only said a thousand times that she was just itching for one.
She opened her eyes, expecting to see the familiar decor, but then her jaw hit the floor. This was definitely not her apartment, and as far as she could tell, it wasn't even in Shibuya.
There weren't any familiar faces, either. Uzuki frowned. Had she somehow changed her frequency out of anger, and managed to wind up in a strange RG party?
Oh, well. A party was a party. And if she accidentally 'slipped' and set some Noise on someone? She would feel much, much better.

The room was like a bad acid trip through Tamaki's subconscious. The fish in the middle of it had glitter coming out of its mouth. Glitter.
He walked partway in and gawked, vaguely registering the fact that the door he'd come through had disappeared. What the hell was this? And why was he suddenly wearing his school uniform?
This was weird even by Landel's standards.
Still, the uniform did come in handy. It helped Hikaru spot a similar powder blue jacket a few feet away. And there was only one "boy" at Ouran who was that small and pretty.

Either she was back at Landel's for a third (and probably equally brief) time, or he really was dreaming. Somehow.
