CHAT DEMANDS IMPROMPTU IC PARTY FOR THE WIN AND THE LULZ

LET'S GO!  JOIN IN!

At the end of the day, your character is led back to their room in the usual manner.  The nurse's hand reaches for the doorknob and the door swings open, then--

Poof!

Your character appears in a large ballroom with an exquisitely tiled floor and a large stone fountain in the center.  The centerpiece of the fountain, shaped like a large fish, continually emits a spray of glitter from its open mouth.  Several tables covered with crisp white tablecloths are positioned near the walls, and a jar of sharpie brand glitter-paint markers serves as a colorful centerpiece for each.

Against the far wall is a long, rectangular table, with two bowls of red punch.  A sign written in fancy calligraphy rests against each: Yes, and No.  In addition to the punch, there are bottles of every liquor imaginable, as well as several fine wines and packs of cigarettes (though partygoers will have to fight for a single lighter).

The bathroom to one side bears a creepy resemblance to the bathroom in a normal house, complete with a medicine cabinet worthy of a lonely 50's housewife.

On the other side are a series of doors leading to rooms.

CURRENT SUB-ROOMS:

Bathroom
Office
Room of Mystical Legal Aging
Vegas Hotel
Broom Closet
Walk-in Freezer

If your character goes into a room, please put that room in the subject line.  Rooms are lockable.  If you want a room that isn't listed, tell me and I'll give it to you.  XD

Since this is not an actual [livejournal.com profile] damned event and is not srs bzns, feel free to join in with a character that from another rp if you're a potential player.  If this is the case, instead of entering through a door in the institute, your player would enter through a random door in the RP from whence they came.  XD  EDIT:  Party is now also for trying out potential characters.

The YES punch smells and tastes alcoholic, and has the same effect as a normal spiked drink.  The NO punch smells and tastes like normal non-alcoholic party punch.  IF YOUR CHARACTER DRINKS THE NO PUNCH, IM ME AT QUANTIFYTHIS AND I WILL TELL YOU ITS EFFECT.

THE FIRST RULE OF THE PARTY IS DON'T BE LAME.  THE SECOND RULE OF THE PARTY IS SRSLY, DON'T BE LAME.

FORMER MUSIC

(music will be updated when Allie is not lazy and people give requests)

SMALL PRINT:  Powers and weapons are go as long as whoever you're using them on is cool with it.  Continuity from previous damned parties is intact if you want it to be, or not intact if you don't want it to be.  Clothing is whatever your character wore in canon, whatever they should have worn in canon, whatever they wore in their rp game, or whatever isn't in the dryer.  This impromptu chat party will last until everyone gets bored.

Ayumu blinked once, then laughed and shook her head. "No, no. Really." She lifted her hands to push her bangs out of her face to demonstrate, holding her hair where the clips usually put it. "See? It's me." Being confused for her brother she could understand, but she was a little surprised by Tetsu's reaction. "I have to admit, though, I don't know where we are. I was just in the compound, but somehow I walked through a door and ended up here."

And the boy had a bandage she didn't remember seeing, much less applying. What had he been up to today to give him that?

"But that's..." Impossible. Tetsu knew for a fact Ayunee was dead. She couldn't be here, unless...

"Hey, Ayunee. Are you a ghost?"

"A...ghost?" Ayumu lowered her hands again and regarded the boy curiously for a moment, both puzzled and a little concerned. She might have a rather dangerous profession, but so far she was pretty sure she hadn't died without realizing it.

She reached out to rest a hand against his forehead, testing for fever. "I know you skipped dinner, Tetsunosuke-kun, but I didn't know it was because you were sick..."

Okita's conversation with Rude had been refreshing, if amusing. He really would have thought the white yukata would have given him away with the way the obi was tied, but apparently not everyone knew the difference. A shame.

Wandering off, Okita spotted a familiar spot of flaming red hair standing next to an all too familiar woman.

It was impossible.

Okita had attended her funeral. He'd led the raid to capture her killers. He'd seen to it that Furutaka had been handed to Hijikata and Hijikata had seen to it that Furutaka gave up everything. It had all started with her death, and yet there she was...alive and touching Tetsunosuke's forehead. Landel's could bring back the dead, but this? This was too cruel. Setting down his empty cup, Okita walked over cautiously, afraid that if he said the wrong thing, this illusion would disappear.

"Ayumu-san? Tetsu-kun? What are you two doing here?"

Tetsu flinched when Ayunee touched him. He didn't mean to, and he didn't want to, but he couldn't help it. She was solid and alive and warm, but...she was dead. This wasn't happening. It had to be some weird dream, right?

"'Skipped dinner'...?" he echoed, looking even more confused. "But Ayunee, that was--Okita-san!"

The captain of the Shinsengumi's First Unit proved a very welcome distraction. Tetsu turned away from Ayumu and beamed up at him, glad that he wouldn't have to be the one to tell her she was...dead. "I don't know. Hijikata-san wanted me to clean the dojo, but when I opened the door, I was here instead!"

Ayumu only looked even more puzzled at the boy's flinch. He didn't feel overly warm, so he probably wasn't sick, but that didn't explain why he was acting this way. It was almost like - well, like he had seen a ghost. Which she certainly wasn't.

She pushed down her confusion, though, showing only a cheerful smile for Okita as the other joined them. Perhaps he knew where they were and what was going on. She could hope, at least. "The same thing happened to me," she replied, with a nod toward Tetsu. "I simply walked through a door and found myself here."

Okita's gaze flicked toward the injury on Tetsu's ear and a part of him grew grim. Tetsu knew, then. He knew that it was impossible for Ayumu to exist. The wound was still fresh, meaning not much time had passed between the Ikedaya and when he had been taken. Ayumu, on the other hand, he had no idea if she knew what was about to happen to her.

Time for the happy face. "It's rather strange, isn't it? I don't really understand it myself, but this has happened twice before to me. Although this time the atmosphere is a little different." He laughed and clapped his hands together like a child. "Perhaps we're all hallucinating together!"

"Twice?" Tetsu blinked. "Okita-san, this has happened to you before?" Why hadn't he told them? Or...warned them? But if it really was a hallucination, then Ayunee wasn't really there after all. She was still dead, and this was just one really strange dream. He didn't know how he could have fallen asleep while opening the door to the dojo in the middle of the afternoon, but stranger things had happened, right?

In a way, though, he didn't want to wake up. He wanted this to be real. He wanted to find a way home with Ayunee. That way she could keep taking care of them, and Susumu would actually have his chance to be her little brother.

It was strange, not just that it had happened but that it had apparently happened to Okita twice now. Perhaps he was right, though; if it was all just some incredibly strange dream, albeit one that felt so incredibly real, it could explain the setting and Tetsu's mysterious injury and odd behavior. And how she had ended up there without meaning to. It wouldn't hurt to at least play along, though - however strange this place was, it didn't seem dangerous at the moment.

Ayumu only laughed quietly, covering her mouth with one hand. "If this is all a hallucination, it must be one of yours," she told Okita, voice light, as she nodded toward the piglets and butterflies doodled in pink on a nearby table. "Though I'm not sure if I should thank you for the invitation."

"Yes. It's a long story, but...ah." He stopped, pulling the glitter pen out of his sleeve to tap it against his chin. He'd developed that habit since coming to Landel's, he realized. It helped him think and it was much less messy than using a brush. How could he phrase this exactly? Well, telling the truth certainly wouldn't hurt, right? "I was just joking earlier. It's not a hallucination. Although if it was mine, I don't think I could ever dream of such a strange fish."

The piglets and butterflies were his, of course, but the fish? He wouldn't take credit for that if it was forced onto him at gunpoint. "Truth is, I've been missing from Mibu about a week and a half now, stuck in the future." He laughed and twirled the pen in his right hand, letting it spin over the tops of his fingers. "It sounds crazy, but the place I'm at tends to have strange occurances like these every so often. Last time it was a great costume ball and this time, well... Glitter fish."

Tetsu instantly recognized the pig doodles as Okita's. Neon pink, shimmery Saizous all over the table. Only a certain swordsman could dream that up. "Okita-san, what's that?" he asked, pointing to the pen. He'd never seen anything like it! It looked kind of like glass, but...not. It was weird.

What Okita said next, though, took him completely by surprise. "...the future...? Wha--no, you haven't been gone! We were on the roof watching the fireworks. And you said good morning to me a few hours ago when I went to get Hijikata-san his tea..." Tetsu shook his head, red ponytail bobbing from side to side. It just wasn't possible. But what if...

"Hey! If this isn't a hallucination, then Ayunee can come back with us!" He grinned up at her. "Nagakura-san's been cooking dinner, and he isn't very good. And everyone will be so happy! Especially Susumu! We've all been sad since..."

Oops.

Oh, yes. It wasn't a hallucination, they were just trapped in a strange place in the future. It certainly sounded more than a little crazy, especially since Ayu had seen Okita earlier that day and knew he hadn't been missing for a week. "If this is supposed to be some kind of a joke, it's an odd one," she began, but paused when Tetsu spoke.

The first hints of doubt crept into Ayu's mind at that point; she'd cooked dinner that night, but had planned for that to be the last time for a while. If Okita really had been missing for a week...and she'd been gone long enough that people were missing her cooking that much...was it possible that she had lost some time somewhere? But how could that possibly have happened? "Since what?"
