CHAT DEMANDS IMPROMPTU IC PARTY FOR THE WIN AND THE LULZ

LET'S GO!  JOIN IN!

At the end of the day, your character is led back to their room in the usual manner.  The nurse's hand reaches for the doorknob and the door swings open, then--

Poof!

Your character appears in a large ballroom with an exquisitely tiled floor and a large stone fountain in the center.  The centerpiece of the fountain, shaped like a large fish, continually emits a spray of glitter from its open mouth.  Several tables covered with crisp white tablecloths are positioned near the walls, and a jar of sharpie brand glitter-paint markers serves as a colorful centerpiece for each.

Against the far wall is a long, rectangular table, with two bowls of red punch.  A sign written in fancy calligraphy rests against each: Yes, and No.  In addition to the punch, there are bottles of every liquor imaginable, as well as several fine wines and packs of cigarettes (though partygoers will have to fight for a single lighter).

The bathroom to one side bears a creepy resemblance to the bathroom in a normal house, complete with a medicine cabinet worthy of a lonely 50's housewife.

On the other side are a series of doors leading to rooms.

CURRENT SUB-ROOMS:

Bathroom
Office
Room of Mystical Legal Aging
Vegas Hotel
Broom Closet
Walk-in Freezer

If your character goes into a room, please put that room in the subject line.  Rooms are lockable.  If you want a room that isn't listed, tell me and I'll give it to you.  XD

Since this is not an actual [livejournal.com profile] damned event and is not srs bzns, feel free to join in with a character that from another rp if you're a potential player.  If this is the case, instead of entering through a door in the institute, your player would enter through a random door in the RP from whence they came.  XD  EDIT:  Party is now also for trying out potential characters.

The YES punch smells and tastes alcoholic, and has the same effect as a normal spiked drink.  The NO punch smells and tastes like normal non-alcoholic party punch.  IF YOUR CHARACTER DRINKS THE NO PUNCH, IM ME AT QUANTIFYTHIS AND I WILL TELL YOU ITS EFFECT.

THE FIRST RULE OF THE PARTY IS DON'T BE LAME.  THE SECOND RULE OF THE PARTY IS SRSLY, DON'T BE LAME.

FORMER MUSIC
FORMER MUSIC
CURRENT MUSIC
(music will be updated when Allie is not lazy and people give requests)

SMALL PRINT:  Powers and weapons are go as long as whoever you're using them on is cool with it.  Continuity from previous damned parties is intact if you want it to be, or not intact if you don't want it to be.  Clothing is whatever your character wore in canon, whatever they should have worn in canon, whatever they wore in their rp game, or whatever isn't in the dryer.  This impromptu chat party will last until everyone gets bored.

He was a police officer...? Wonderful. And yet he saw the man definitely eying the wine and suppressed a grimace. The thought of seeing the wine downed in the same fashion as the liquor was alarmingly vivid in his mind, so he placed a hand on the bottle's neck and purposefully moved it several inches away.

"I think I'll try some of it... later," he said. If Matsuda wanted more alcohol, he could go and get more, and Mikami would probably slip away in the mean-time. It was a tad low, but the plan would do for now.

Matsuda nodded along with what Mikami was saying, then watched as the prosecutor moved the bottle away from him. What? Why would he be doing that? "Would you mind if I tried some now, then?" he asked, reaching forward for the bottle. "Just a little bit."

Mikami picked the wine bottle up and half-turned his body away. He honestly didn't understand this man at all.

"I would mind," he said blandly, then frowned. "If you want to make a fool of yourself getting drunk, I don't want to be involved. And please use something other than this."

Suddenly he noticed Matsuda was standing a little too close for his standards of personal space, and held one hand up in defense. The other was used to attempt holding the wine bottle out of reach, only semi-successfully in his care to keep it undamaged.

"Oh, come on," Matsuda replied, also frowning as Mikami stepped back. "I'm not a lightweight. I can hold my alcohol." He moved forward to try to wrestle it from Mikami's grasp. After about a minute he emerged victorious and got right to work tearing the foil off of the neck. He tried not to pay any attention to the fact that the bottle almost slipped out his hands twice.

"Why are you being so possessive?" he asked as he worked on getting the cork out. It was kinda difficult without a corkscrew, but he'd manage. "You haven't even tried it to see if you like it yet. Come on, we can try it togeth--" He broke off as the cork flew out of the bottle, and moved his head to avoid getting hit with it. Wine began to slosh out of the bottle, and Matsuda moved to hold it over the table.

"Oops."

Mikami stumbled back when Matsuda grabbed the bottle, then crossed his arms, lowering his head to stare at the detective. Matsuda had already removed the foil and was struggling tooth and nail with the cork.

"I wasn't being possessive, Matsuda-san, it's just that I think-- for the love of Cod, what are you doing?!"

Somehow, Matsuda managed to remove the cork, and in doing so, he was spilling wine everywhere. It was falling and falling, splattering on the white tablecloth like hundreds of shattering rubies. With a grimace, Mikami pulled at his hair in distress and then grabbed blindly for the bottle with his right hand, snatching at Matsuda's shoulder with his left. There was another brief struggle, and more wine went on the men's arms and the floor. Mikami was quickly nearing full-out anger when without even thinking, he wrenched the bottle from Matsuda's grip and set it to his mouth, gulping down several goes.

And then he sputtered and coughed, shocked at what he did, holding a hand to his mouth in morbid embarrassment. There was alcohol everywhere, and of course, Matsuda was grinning like a madman.

But, well... from what he had gathered of his heathenish taste, the wine was actually quite good, and had a surprisingly warm feeling to it. After a moment of staring thoughtfully at the bottle, he again looked to Matsuda, who was seeming expectant and staring pointedly at the bottle.

"Look, okay, find some glasses and we'll see about this."

Really, Matsuda couldn't help but grin. Even though Mikami seemed to be getting upset over it, the detective found it rather fun. Maybe it was the fact that normally people wouldn't actually bother to struggle with him over a drink, or maybe it was the bottle of liquor that he had finished off prior to this, but for some reason Matsuda felt compelled to laugh at the prosecutor's embarrassed look. It was all in good fun. "You got it," he said, turning back towards the table with the bottles and punch bowl. He stumbled once on his way over there, but arrived safely.

Okay, maybe he was getting a bit tipsy, but he was still sober enough to...well, consider himself sober. Who really cared, anyway? A party was a party, and Matsuda was in desperate need of some alcohol. He wouldn't mind dealing with the inevitable hangover.

He grabbed two glasses, and was about to head back to the table that Mikami was standing at when he took a closer look at the punch bowls. One was clearly labeled "No," which Matsuda assumed meant that it was non-alcoholic. Maybe the prosecutor would like some of that, instead, after the wine. The detective grabbed another glass and filled it with the "No" punch before heading back over. This time, thankfully, he didn't stumble.

"Hey!" he said, setting everything back down on the table. "Found some empty glasses, and it looks like the punch was non-alcoholic. I grabbed some for you for after the wine."

Mikami watched Matsuda practically skip off, then once again began to look about the room. He had no idea why he was going along with this, although to be completely honest, his current company (dim as he seemed), might actually be better than some of the other people at this "party."

For example... someone just flew up to someone else. Mikami turned back to the table, lips tight, resisting the urge to drink straight out of the bottle again. He didn't even bother trying to read the offending individual's name... he wasn't going to go there.

Matsuda returned shortly, and although he suspected strongly that he was going to regret this decision, obliged by pouring the two of them some liquid from his bottle. Dismissing the buzz starting in his head as general irritation, he finally drank some more of the wine and ignored the punch offered.

Matsuda looked around the room while Mikami poured the wine. There was a weird-looking guy with wings standing elsewhere, and that really kinda fascinated him. Could just be the alcohol, though, even if Matsuda had been certain that he had a higher tolerance than that.

He glanced back to see Mikami picking up one of the glasses and reached for another. "We should toast!" he announced. "For not being in that institute place." As if that had been toast enough, Matsuda raised his glass into the air before downing the contents.

...Oops. That sure didn't taste like wine. Matsuda looked down and looked rather embarrassed to find that he'd drank the punch instead of the wine. Well damn, and he'd even gotten that for Mikami. Go figure.

"Uh...sorry about that," he said, looking back up and rubbing the back of his head as he set the glass down and picked up the one full of wine. "Wrong one."

"I believe I can agree with that toast," Mikami said dryly, watching the numbers above Matsuda's head bob around rather drunkly themselves. He wondered if the man's level of intoxication would actually have further effect on them, but it seemed certain he would soon have the chance to find out... granted he watched his own intake. But Mikami knew he was a man that, unlike Matsuda, could hold his alcohol. At least when it came to wine. He took another sip.

"So, Matsuda-san, you're a police officer. Are you married or anything?"

From: [identity profile] showtime-matsu.livejournal.com
Matsuda bobbed his head along with Mikami's first statement, partly listening to it and partly listening to the pleasant buzz in the background. He sipped at the wine slower than he had the liquor or punch, starting to feel rather pleasantly sleepy.

"Yeah, I'm a police officer," he responded slowly, taking care not to slur his words. "Not married yet, though." He looked down into his glass, acting rather embarrassed. He knew it was strange for a man his age to not be married, and it was even stranger that he didn't really have a girlfriend. But what could he say? Working for the police really kept a guy busy!

Matsuda took a large drink of his wine before looking back up to the other man. "What about you, Mikami-san? Are you married?"

Mikami listened with a tad more interest than he normally would have when faced with the petty details of some dork's life. He had realized his mistake far too late, and although he really should have expected the question would be turned on him next, he jerked and swept his hand out when it did...

...knocking the bottle of wine right off the table, where it shattered spectacularly, red liquid splattering wide across the tiled floor, pieces of glass flinging waist-high in a sparkling explosion of heart-breaking glory.

There was roughly fifteen seconds of dead silence, whereas drops of alcohol soaked into Mikami's pant leg and the remnants of the wine in the bottle leaked out onto the floor between glittering bones of glass. He turned to Matsuda, his face completely blank.

"No," he answered.

From: [identity profile] showtime-matsu.livejournal.com
His reaction time was starting to be affected. Matsuda stepped back as the bottle shattered, a little bit late to prevent the splashing wine from getting on his pant legs. He stared down at the shattered glass, only vaguely wondering what the hell could have caused Mikami to drop it.

Maybe he really shouldn't have given the man wine; after all, it seemed like he couldn't hold it as well as Matsuda could. Such a waste of perfectly good wine, too...

He glanced back up when he heard Mikami's response. "Oh." He looked back down to see that the prosecutor's own pant leg was rather soaked with wine, and in a not-so-split-second decision (it really took roughly ten seconds), Matsuda grabbed the man's arm and began to drag him towards the table with the alcohol and punch bowls. "I'm sorry. Don't you worry about that, we'll get you something else," he explained, smiling as he glanced back. The detective stumbled again on his way over, but that didn't change his attitude. "It'll be better, trust me."

And once again Mikami found himself in the process of being dragged around at the mercy of Matsuda Touta's insatiable desire to force him to do things with him. Or rather, Mikami didn't have anything else to do anyway, but he didn't think he wanted anything else after that wine incident. He could distinctly feel his shoes squishing wetly with every step.

"Why won't you leave me alone?" he asked vaguely, just as Matsuda was releasing him again near the beverage table. Or rather, just as Matsuda was trying to release him... the man still clung to his sleeve, and after a moment, Mikami had to shake him loose.

From: [identity profile] showtime-matsu.livejournal.com
"I dunno," the detective responded simply, shrugging his shoulders as he pulled his hands away. "It's just that you seemed like an interesting person to talk to and you weren't blunt about telling me to go away." He gave Mikami a hurt expression, then turned to the table. "And now...well, it's kinda my fault that you dropped your drink, so I need to make up for that." He meant well, really, it was just that sometimes it seemed like everything was out to get him.

Matsuda scanned the table to see if there was anything else interesting that they could try, but he couldn't really see anything new. "Wine or punch?" he asked, gesturing to the drinks in turn.

Date: 2008-09-03 09:52 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] justice-to-a-t.livejournal.com
Mikami honestly didn't know whether or not the man was going to cry after leveling an expression like that at him. It certainly wouldn't be the first time he'd caused the reaction, although it had never happened in something quite like this situation.

Now the man was subtly apologizing, offering him a drink again, gesturing a little too broadly. He didn't think it would do to have Matsuda wailing or similar and causing a scene with him at the middle of it, so he sighed and looked over the table... anyway, he was still reasonably thirsty.

More alcohol was out of the question. Or, at least alcohol that was obvious... he hadn't been exactly watching the other people attending the "party" closely, but nobody seemed particularly affected by anything that could have put in the so-marked "No" punch bowl, and so he scooped a bit of it out and tasted it experimentally.

From: [identity profile] showtime-matsu.livejournal.com
Matsuda watched anxiously as Mikami scooped up a glass of the 'No' punch. The other man wasn't saying anything, but he didn't seem terribly disgusted his company. Then again, he could just be doing what everyone else did and be humoring Matsuda.

Well, it looked like he at least didn't hate the punch. Hopefully this would help to make amends with Mikami for causing him to shatter the wine bottle; now, they'd just have to go on a quest for some towels or napkins or something in a bit to try and dry off the man's clothes.

"So why'd you become a prosecutor, Mikami-san?" he asked conversationally, scooping himself another glass of the punch.

Date: 2008-09-04 05:26 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] justice-to-a-t.livejournal.com
That was an easy enough question.

"Ever since I was little, I've known that what I thought as morally right was correct." He finished his glass casually, then set it down. "It's always been my duty to suppress the evil in the world. Becoming a prosecution attorney was the logical step."

He didn't bother looking at Matsuda again, instead opting to continue studying the various drinks closely. The punch was decent, but too sweet for his tastes, and he still wanted something more. Not alcohol, but no doubt that's all that was here. He finally picked up an interesting looking bottle, moving it side to side to view the sparkling liquid inside.

"And yourself? You said you're a police officer, but surely it's more specific than that. Tell me what you do." He looked at Matsuda shrewdly. "And why."

Date: 2008-09-04 08:10 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] showtime-matsu.livejournal.com
Matsuda smiled at Mikami's explanation, grinning. "Nice! Lots of lawyers are seen as corrupt and everything, so it's nice to see someone with good priorities." The whole 'I'm morally right' attitude might be a bit dangerous, because nothing was ever really absolute, but the prosecutor seemed genuine in his intentions.

He took another drink of his punch, and looked back over when Mikami spoke again. "Me?" he repeated, blinking. "I originally joined the police academy because my parents expected it of me, but it's been nice to help people by catching the bad guys. Right now I'm working as a police detective, trying to catch Kira. I'll admit that what he's doing has helped a lot of people and helped to lower crime rates, but he's still a murderer. We have laws for a reason."

Date: 2008-09-05 03:44 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] justice-to-a-t.livejournal.com
Mikami allowed himself a small smile as Matsuda complimented him, picking out a new glass to replace the punchy one and pouring up some of his chosen beverage as the man continued talking at him. He began to take a sip, and then--

"WHAT?!" he cried out dramatically. Or rather, he tried crying out dramatically-- instead, vodka was sprayed everywhere, and he half doubled over as he fought back choking coughs.

It was unbelievable that of all the people he'd met so far who knew nothing of Kira, he had been interacting all this time with someone who did. Plus, back "home," he was used to people who would, when not outright announcing their support for Kira, at least act mildly uncomfortable when mentioning they didn't agree with his actions. To find someone who so calmly threw out that they were trying to "capture" Kira... it was crazy. Although, he had thought the man rather... incompetent since "meeting" him.

"I don't think Kira is a criminal," he said bluntly, after regaining his composure a bit, "In fact, I think Kira is the best thing to ever happen to the world."

Date: 2008-09-06 12:53 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] showtime-matsu.livejournal.com
Matsuda shrank back a bit at Mikami's exclamation, trying to avoid the spray of vodka and failing. It went everywhere, and it looked like Mikami was the king of spilling things everywhere tonight. They probably just needed to go try and find a change of clothes for the prosecutor.

But even without that admission that he was a follower (or close enough), Matsuda could have probably picked up his adoration for Kira from the spray of vodka. "You and most of the world," Matsuda responded bluntly. "But I know how he does it, and it's way too much power for just one person. What if he ever made a mistake? He's killed innocent people before. You're a prosecutor, so you know that we have trials to determine whether or not people are really guilty. Kira's decisions are absolute, and he can't really bring people back if he makes a mistake."
